The main areas of work in claims, disputes & litigation are:
Pre-Charter Condition Surveys
Solas Premier Marine Engineering carries out pre-charter condition surveys on vessels proposed for either short term or long-term charter.
The basic survey addresses the principal particulars of the vessel, consumptions and trials and certification.
An assessment is made of the condition of hull, deck and superstructure, mooring equipment, safety equipment, cargo handling system, inert gas plant, machinery, electrical equipment, instrumentation, navigation and radio equipment, accommodation, shipboard spare gear and outfit, and the standard and status of vessel maintenance.
The cargo and ballast tanks, service tanks and void spaces are inspected wherever possible.
Pre-Purchase Surveys
A comprehensive advisory service is offered including advice on purchase, operation, financing, and insurance. The pre-purchase survey is an enhanced version of the pre-charter survey and includes the survey items outlined above.
With the owner's cooperation, selected cargo tanks are inspected during a ballast voyage or, if possible, during docking by one of our marine engineer.
Depot spares are also assessed. An inspection of classification records is recommended, to gain information into any historic or recurrent problems and to provide details of any conditions of class.
Only through a physical inspection of the vessel, plus associated onboard and classification records, can a prospective owner fully assess the true condition of the subject vessel and assess its worth.
Vessel Condition Assessment
Solas Premier Marine Engineering can provide teams of staff, including marine engineers and coating specialists to provide the owner with a complete, comprehensive condition report.
We work with the owner to develop both long and short-term vessel strategies, based on market needs and vessel condition assessment reports.
Safety Audits
Safety audits assess the condition and extent of the safety and emergency equipment on board the vessel, including fire fighting and fire detection systems, survival equipment and emergency power systems. We work with the owner to develop both long and short-term vessel strategies, based on market needs and vessel condition assessment reports. These audits are based on the Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS) requirements. Statutory certification is verified as being in order and the effectiveness of the safety management system in place on the vessel is assessed.
